Interior Architecture Award for Commercial projects

This award is open to architects and Interior designers who have worked on commercial projects of interior spaces. Each nomination should highlight how the project managed to fulfill the true potential of a space, maximise the benefit of environmental influences such as natural light, sound, ventilation and incorporate innovative material

CRITERIA

The Jury will consider the following criteria during its evaluation of the submitted projects:

  • Form
  • Function
  • Innovation
  • Quality
  • Energy Efficiency

Form

The jury will consider how the project's built-form manifests the stated intent through its materiality, shape, detailing, etc. The project's structure should have a clear stance on its relationship to its surroundings, its users and the public at large. Rather than simply evaluating its beauty, elements pertaining to quality, appropriateness, and relevance to its audience and the message it is supporting will be sought.

Function

Each entry should indicate the purpose for which the project is intended. The jury will refer to the project's description to understand which functional criteria was the primary concern. The plan should work well for the intended use, regardless of whether it is targeted at the client, the users that occupy the project, the public that encounters it, or even the virtual visitors that are confronted by its photographic representation.

Innovation

Architecture is a relentlessly forward-looking field that embraces new technologies and countenances shifting social and demographic trends with curiosity and eagerness. The jury will be looking for projects that take a fresh approach or work to improve existing practices. The originality of concept or appreciable refinement of current techniques may also be considered.

Quality

Each project must have the excellence of thought analysis, writing, graphics, presentation, communication, and development of understanding.

Energy Efficiency

The extent to which physical construction or development has taken into account measures which are conducive to efficiency in the use of energy and possibly to which alternative forms of energy have been employed, may also be considered.
